Christmas once again

Val completed the Santa Fun Run in Lincoln on Sunday with her daughter Kelly and Scott our exercise coach. Well Done You!

The Jack of Diamonds Duo became three as they rocked the lounge with seasonal music and residents bopped the afternoon away. Thanks to Lynne in the kitchen for the party food – hopefully all involved had a good time.

We are looking forward to Christmas next week, Sunday saw the annual Christingle service. It is always a landmark in the year and the residents help create the atmosphere by singing carols and preparing their own Christingle. This year we had led candles which were ‘beautiful’ and carried on flickering for many hours. One resident who has little speech sang the carols, confirming that music has the ability to help those with dementia, and also that those long established memories stay strong. Hark the Herald Angels sing and Away in a manger are carols that trigger responses, and certainly will be retained on our Christmas list for a few years to come.
