Virtual Dementia experience

June 17th, 2016 | Posted by Willan House in Uncategorized

Keen to ensure our staff have an empathy as well as understanding of the condition of dementia ALL Willan House staff took part in a learning experience that enabled them to experience some of the impact of dementia. Virtual technology Рglasses, headphones and a knowledgable trainer ensured that staff got an insight into how dementia residents have to cope with day to day challenges. So succcessful was the experience that the training was booked for the remainder of the staff. Somewhere in the middle of the course there was a huge clap of thunder with some staff convinced that they had narrowly missed the flash of lightening that appeared to come down close to the kitchen door.

In recent weeks we have provided respite for families needing a break from caring. As we approach the summer please contact us about short stays. We currently have two rooms vacant
